Celebrities who really didn’t want to kiss their co-stars

Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man)

No matter which Spider-Man is your favorite – we’re personally die-hard Tobey Maguire fans – you can’t deny that Kirsten Dunst absolutely smashed her role in the 2002 Spider-Man movie. Tobey and Kirsten made the world squeal from all the cuteness during their iconic kiss in the rain. However, it seems the smooch wasn’t as adorable as it looked on-screen, as Tobey noted in a 2014 interview that it was a logistical nightmare that included water going up his nose and a rush of blood to his head.

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint (the Harry Potter series)

When Emma Watson and Rupert Grint finally became an item in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Potterheads could breathe a sigh of relief that they wouldn’t have to go all Romilda Vane on them. Yet, Huffington Post claimed in 2011 Emma and Rupert weren’t exactly in the mood for a smooch, as they saw each other more as brother and sister after having grown up together on the Harry Potter set. To be honest, we kind of understand them – Harry and Hermione for life!

Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now)

In 2013, the world was graced with the wondrous movie that is The Spectacular Now. Starring Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller, these friends/more-than-friends shared a cheeky kiss for the sake of the storyline – but Shailene wasn’t quite prepared for what Miles had to offer. Miles would often use Chinese herbs during filming to prevent illness and to get him pumped for filming. Unfortunately, these herbs gave off a rather pungent smell and taste…which wasn’t too great for Woodley.

Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother)

If you’re a smoker yourself, you might be used to non-smokers complaining about the smell of tobacco on your clothes and on your breath – but you’ll also know that it’s pretty darn difficult to get rid of the smell. This is exactly the problem Jason Segel had on the set of How I Met Your Mother, as Alyson Hannigan didn’t keep her distaste for the smell and taste to herself. Nevertheless, the whole thing worked in everyone’s favor, as this eventually pushed Jason Segel to quit smoking.

Tom Cruise and Thandie Newton (Mission: Impossible 2)

It wasn’t too long ago that Tom Cruise was one of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywood, so you’d think there would be actors and actresses lining up to appear in a kissing scene with him – though it probably won’t be Thandie Newton again. It seems that trying to get a good kiss out of Tom Cruise was more of a Mission: Impossible than a romantic moment, as Tom’s slobbery kisses had to be reshot numerous times to avoid grossing out the viewers.

Dane Cook and Kate Hudson (My Best Friend’s Girl)

Although we hate to see that these two are on this list – at least we can rest easy knowing that Kate Hudson intentionally made their kiss the most horrific thing on this planet. While filming My Best Friend’s Girl, Kate wanted to properly prepare herself for the upcoming kissing scene. Yet, she didn’t take a swig of mouthwash or eat chewing gum… she decided to fill her mouth with a whole load of raw onion to play a prank on her co-star. Amazing.

Vanessa Hudgens and James Franco

Well, this looks a little sloppy. If you’ve seen the movie Spring Breakers, you’ll know that the main premise involves every character getting it on with at least one person. In fact, Vanessa Hudgens exchanged a few smooches with two of her co-stars; Ashley Benson and James Franco. Vanessa has since noted that her kiss with the Benson was much more enjoyable than the kiss with Franco – considering this third of the Franco Brothers had a little too much saliva action going on. Ew.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Virginie Ledoyen (The Beach)

Let’s be honest, if we were given a chance to kiss Leonardo DiCaprio, we definitely would NOT turn it down – though after Virginie Ledoyen’s recounting of the experience, we would be a little wary about it. While filming The Beach, Leonardo and Virginie performed an underwater love scene, with Ledoyen noting that apart from trying not to drown, there was “no honest passion” in the moment, at least not for her, and she doesn’t even remember it.  Oh well, at least they’ll always have the beautiful paradise-gone-bad movie.

Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games series)

So far, we’ve heard all about male actors and their inability to give their co-stars a good kiss – but it seems as though there are some actresses out there who also struggle in this department. The Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson has had his say on his time on set with J-Law, and it’s not good news. During an interview with Elle Magazine, Hutcherson let the whole world know about her alleged slobbering. It’s always nice when friends have your back.

Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio (Titanic)

That’s it. We’ve lost all hope in love. As arguably the greatest romances in the history of romances, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio melted our ice cold hearts when they appeared at the bow of the Titanic and took part in a steamy makeout session in the cargo hold – but apparently, everything is a lie. Although their on-screen chemistry was definitely palpable, it did not continue onto their next film, Revolutionary Road; this was allegedly because Kate, who at this point was, she refused to kiss Leo on-screen.

Sharon Stone and William Baldwin (Sliver)

It’s no secret that the Baldwin family have been blessed with a few good-looking genes, but Sharon Stone has since noted that it’s not all about looks. A true expert in basic instincts, it seems that Stone was pretty underwhelmed with William Baldwin’s performance in Sliver. Apparently, this Baldwin brother bit her tongue numerous times throughout their steamy scenes, and she also made sure she kept a bottle of mouthwash nearby at all times during these moments. Well, that would certainly leave a bad taste your mouth.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes (Romeo + Juliet)

Okay, this is getting out of hand. Leo again? Really? Well, we hate to break it to you, but Romeo and Juliet really didn’t have an epic romance – not in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation, anyway. These star-crossed lovers also got their wires crossed while on the set of Romeo + Juliet, and it’s believed that Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes could not find a common ground. Claire hated Leo’s silly behavior, and Leo hated Claire’s prudish ways, which in a way. You just can’t win.

Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon (Water for Elephants)

Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon are two of the most impressive actors in the world of Hollywood, so you’d assume that their on-screen kiss would be what dreams are made of. Unfortunately, that just wasn’t the case. Although their emotional chemistry was hitting all the right spots, things got a little too snotty for Reese as she tried to kiss Pattinson on the set of Water for Elephants, as he was suffering from a pretty intense cold that day. Lovely.

Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried (Jennifer’s Body)

Most of the time, kissing scenes are included in a movie to add structure and depth. Yet, there are times where they’re added for the sake of simple titillation, and actors and actresses just have to get on with it. This is exactly what happened with Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried on the set of Jennifer’s Body. The pair were told their kissing scene would help drum up publicity, so while they were excited for their roles as a whole, they weren’t really into the shock value kissing scene.

Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games series)

Wow, Jennifer Lawrence must be feeling pretty bad about her kissing skills right now. Although she could probably have gotten over the fact that one of her on-screen The Hunger Games boyfriends didn’t like her kissing skills – getting over both of their negative comments must sting a little According to Liam Hemsworth, their kissing scenes turned a little stale when he was faced with J-Law’s smelly breath. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he’s called the experience of kissing Jennifer “gross.”

Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy (Wanted)

It must be pretty darn awkward for actors to just get on and kiss a person they’ve probably never had a real conversation with before – but they somehow manage to get over the embarrassment and get their smooch on. However, Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy just couldn’t seem to get past the awkwardness of the situation. While filming the 2008 action movie, Wanted, the pair apparently found themselves thrust into a situation they weren’t entirely comfortable with. Well, it looked good to us.

Johnny Depp and Carey Mulligan (Public Enemies)

Johnny Depp and Carey Mulligan are definitely a celebrity couple we could get behind, but it seems as though their chemistry just isn’t enough to get the ratings popping. In fact, their kissing scene didn’t even make the movie. While filming Public Enemies, the pair shot their kissing storyline a whopping 16 times before the producers eventually scrapped it from the movie altogether. Carey has since put this down to her awkwardness and the fact that she was totally starstruck by Depp.

Jennifer Aniston and Alec Baldwin

Jennifer Aniston is one of the most beautiful women to grace the earth, but apparently even the most perfect of humans have their flaws. In Aniston’s case, it’s in her kiss. Post-Friends, Aniston made many appearances on the popular TV show, 30 Rock – where she’s got a little frisky with Alec Baldwin’s character, Jack. Unfortunately, Baldwin wasn’t overwhelmed, and he later told New York Magazine that kissing Jennifer was “painful.” You know what, Baldwin? You don’t deserve Jennifer!

Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp (The Tourist)

We’ve seen Angelina and Johnny appear separately on this list, but could two wrongs make a right? Apparently, they can’t. While filming The Tourist, both actors had their own issues to deal with when it came to their kissing scenes. For starters, Johnny hates doing on-screen kisses in the first place – but the whole thing was made even worse when he brought his bad breath into the mix. Apparently, Jolie made sure that she kept some mints nearby at all times.

Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart (Twilight series)

The Twilight series was a career milestone for all of its stars, but perhaps most so for its leading lady, Kristen Stewart, who became Hollywood’s It-girl and found love with co-star, Robert Pattinson. While filming the supernatural saga, Kristen eventually had to kiss her on-screen best-friend, Taylor Lautner. However, during this time she was already dating Pattinson, which meant that when it came time for her to kiss Lautner, she had to do it in front of her real-life boyfriend. That’s awkward with a capital A.

Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts (I Love Trouble)

Every movie set has likely had its fair share of feuding, but the set of I Love Trouble was more tumultuous than anyone could imagine. Although Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts tried to keep things professional between them, they just couldn’t hide their hatred for each other. Ouch! It’s believed that the pair would often bring in body doubles to take over their kissing scenes. Roberts has since called Nolte “absolutely disgusting,” while Nolte noted that everyone knows “she’s not a nice person.” These two sure seem to love drama.

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt (Passengers)

If we’ve learned one thing from this list, it’s that Jennifer Lawrence really can’t catch a break. Whether she’s giving a bad kiss herself or she’s receiving one, her romantic life seems to be going to downhill. On the set of Passengers, Jennifer knew that she was expected to kiss Chris Pratt – who was married at the time to Anna Faris. Jennifer was extremely anxious and drank to help calm her nerves, yet when she returned home, she allegedly still felt guilty for kissing a married man.

Harrison Ford and Sean Young (Blade Runner)

When you see happy couples in movies, it’s easy to believe that the two actors are just as happy in real life – but it just doesn’t work that way. It has been reported that Harrison Ford and Sean Young kinda sorta hate each other, which meant made their kissing scenes a little awkward. In fact, rumors have it that the film crew would call their kissing scenes “the hate scenes.” Sorry to ruin it for you, guys.

Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen (Scary Movie 5)

It’s no secret that both Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen have both had fairly troubled careers, but it seems as though there are some things even these two aren’t comfortable with. While filming Scary Movie 5, the they were instructed to take part in a bedroom scene, but Lindsay was having none of it: allegedly, she originally refused to do the scene, but eventually agreed after producers pushed her into it. Before they began, though, both parties apparently had to sign waivers to confirm they didn’t have cold sores. Romantic.

Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington (The Pelican Brief )

Apparently, Julia Roberts isn’t having a great time of it when it comes to her kissing scenes, either. Although she is highly regarded as one of the most popular women on the planet, this wasn’t enough to tempt Denzel Washington. Washington was supposed to kiss Roberts in The Pelican Brief but refused to do so because Julia was a white actress. Apparently, he would not go ahead with the kiss, so as not to alienate his “core audience,” which is comprised of black women.

Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell (Martin)

Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell have shown that they are more than capable of playing happy families while the cameras are rolling. After all, they appeared in five seasons of Martin together! However, things weren’t all hunky-dory behind the scenes. In many scenes, Tisha outright refused to kiss Lawrence, and she even sued the actor for physical and emotional abuse. The L.A. Times has noted that Lawrence would forcibly “grope her, kiss her” and make unwanted advances towards her in between takes.

Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family)

Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson make up our favorite TV couple – Mitch and Cam from Modern Family! These two lovebirds may be a little eccentric, but there’s no doubt that their love makes us happy to watch. However, the show received complaints in 2010 after the pair had never shared an on-screen kiss. Apparently, although Jesse is LGBT in real life, Eric is straight and didn’t initially feel comfortable kissing another man. Thankfully, he took it like a man.

Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren (The Mosquito Coast)

Fans around the world marveled over Harrison and Helen’s on-screen chemistry and epic kissing scenes in the 1986 thriller. It wasn’t until ten years later that a few secrets came out of the woodwork. While speaking to the BBC, Helen had a few home truths to reveal about her film beau… Harrison Ford really can’t kiss! According to Helen, “He finds it impossible to kiss on-screen,” and she’s not sure he’s good at it off-screen, either. We’ll see what his partner, Calista Flockhart has to say about that!

James Franco and Sienna Miller (Camille)

When it comes down to it, there is a lot of work needed to pull off a flawless kissing scene, and there are a load of things that can (and do) go wrong while the cameras are rolling. Despite the fact that James Franco and Sienna Miller played loved-up newlyweds in the 2008 movie Camille, the pair only shared a few cheeky pecks here and there. According to Franco, this was because Sienna was having a few problems with her teeth at the time – and had to call an emergency dentist!

Selena Gomez and Dylan Sprouse (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody)

Before Dylan Sprouse made girls around the world swoon with his long locks and acting talent, he was going to work with his twin brother to star in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Although he was just a kid, he managed to score himself his first kiss with none other than Selena Gomez! Unfortunately, both of them hadn’t had much practice in the smooching department, so they just ended up headbutting and slobbering other each other instead. Looooovely.

Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom (The Pirates of the Caribbean series)

While filming The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Keira Knightley had to pucker up numerous times so she could not only lock lips with Johnny Depp, but also kiss Orlando Bloom. There are worse days at the office, right? Although we’re pretty obsessed with the movie series, there is one question that hasn’t been answered: who was the better kisser? Orlando or Johnny? Well, Keira has been pretty coy about her answers, but noted that “Johnny Depp certainly wasn’t bad.” WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE ORLANDO, KEIRA?

Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis (Some Like It Hot)

Let’s be honest, we would do anything to go back in time and meet Marilyn Monroe – and we’re not even sure what we would do if we got the chance to kiss her. However, one of the lucky men who did get to kiss the actress got into a little bit of trouble after saying that kissing Marilyn was “like kissing Hitler.” Ouch. Indeed, Tony Curtis didn’t come off well when he slammed this legend’s kissing ability… and rightly so!

Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher (No Strings Attached)

Over the course of his career, we bet Ashton Kutcher has had to kiss dozens of his co-stars – but that doesn’t mean he necessarily enjoyed it. In fact, Ashton has always been extremely open about the fact that he’s not always comfortable getting romantic with fellow actors and actresses. While filming No Strings Attached, Ashton made sure Natalie Portman knew his distaste was nothing to do with her, but more about the fact that he wouldn’t choose to kiss her in real life, which was somehow better, we guess?

Richard Gere and Debra Winger (An Officer and a Gentleman)

When it comes down to it, you’re really either into kissing other people for the sake of a movie or TV show, or you’re just not a fan – and Debra Winger is the latter. While filming An Officer and a Gentleman, Debra was cast as Richard Gere’s love interest. Great, right? Well, not quite. According to Winger, kissing Richard Gere was like kissing a “brick wall” and director Taylor Hackford was “an animal” who wanted the scenes to be as raunchy as possible. No joke, that sounds horrifying.

Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale (American Hustle)

Okay, we’re actually getting pretty fed up of seeing your name on this list now, J-Law! It’s getting too much for us to deal with. For his role alongside Jennifer Lawrence in American Hustle, Christian Bale was required to gain a heck load of weight – and also a bit of facial hair. When she first found out that she was going to kiss her lauded and normally hunky co-star, J-Law was over the moon. Yet, her excitement allegedly waned when she saw Bale’s new look.

Jason Lee and Shannen Doherty (Mallrats)

There are some people who just don’t get along, and it’s pretty unfortunate when a producer picks those people to star alongside each other in a supposed blockbuster. Such was the case for Jason Lee and Shannen Doherty while on the set of Mallrats. apparently ,the two absolutely despised each other. Lee has since called Doherty “abrasive, brattish and generally unpleasant to work with,” which probably meant you could cut the tension during these kissing scenes with a knife.

Kevin Hart and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (Central Intelligence)

Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are the best comedy duo since Laurel and Hardy. It was less funny for Kevin, though, when he discovered he was to kiss his co-star on the set of Central Intelligence; ever since he entered the world of showbusiness, Hart has maintained that he would never be comfortable kissing a man on camera. And indeed, despite the kiss lasting for a fraction of a second, it caused Hart to jump out of his seat.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries)

There’s a reason why directors advise their cast members against relationships with their co-stars, since it can easily get incredibly awkward. Unfortunately, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder felt the full force awaken for each other on the set of The Vampire Diaries. However after the pair dated in real life, they eventually broke up. In any other situation, these guys could give each other the cold shoulder for a while, but when you continue to play a couple? Things go from zero to terrible in a few short scenes.

Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic (Castle)

If you’ve ever seen Castle, you know Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic’s characters go through a multi-staged journey. At first, they hate each other, but as time goes by, they learn to appreciate one another, and eventually even end up dating. Yet, it seems the exact opposite happened to the actors in real life. Although they started off as pals, they ended up resenting each other – and Stana’s even accused Nathan of being a bully! Because of that, their kissing scenes probably ended up being no fun at all.

Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman (Kramer vs. Kramer)

Every actor has their way of making a scene their own – but there are some who should really stop themselves. On the first day of filming Kramer vs. Kramer, Streep and Dustin were asked to reshoot a scene to make it more emotive. Before anyone knew what was happening, Dustin slapped Meryl across the face in a fit of rage he expected his character to be feeling, causing her to run off-stage. The pair then had to film more intimate scenes that were made incredibly difficult due to the assault.

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams (The Notebook)

Okay, this is getting out of hand. Awkward kissing in one of the most romantic movies in history?! Although Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams created arguably one of the greatest cinematic storylines in The Notebook, it seems as though their love wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. It’s rumored that the two lovebirds actually hated each other in real life, with Ryan even asking the director to replace Rachel with another actress – until they ended up falling in love with one another, and dating for two years.

Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze (Dirty Dancing)

It’s fair to say that Dirty Dancing is quite possibly the best dance movie ever. Everything about it is perfect: the characters, storylines, soundtrack, dancing and more. Although Grey and Swayze made us all a little hot under the collar, it seems the mood on set was more than a little frustrating: in his memoir, Swayze noted that Grey would often appear on set in fits of tears, ruining the more intimate scenes on purpose. Jennifer has also admitted their personalities were mismatched, but luckily the two eventually reconciled.

Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan (50 Shades series)

These two. Whether you love the Fifty Shades franchise or hate it, you can’t deny that Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan have some epic on-screen chemistry. However, Jamie Dornan has since described the mood on set – and it’s not at all that tempting. According to Jamie, Dakota is extremely awkward in the more raunchy scenes, and struggles to complete such filming in one take. Despite their rather lackluster enthusiasm for each other in interviews, they definitely put on a good show – which is really all that matters, right?

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook)

She’s back again! Jennifer Lawrence has appeared on this list one too many times for our liking – but this time it’s Bradley Cooper in the hot seat. J-Law has also maintained that she would never throw herself into a kissing scene because she absolutely hates them, but the whole thing got a little too much for her in Silver Linings Playbook, as she just couldn’t handle Bradley’s soggy kissing skills. After the first take, Jennifer didn’t spare Cooper’s feelings and told him exactly what she thought of his kissing.

Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst (Interview with the Vampire)

Kirsten Dunst got a ton of criticism lobbed her way after she revealed in a 2013 interview that she thought kissing Brad Pitt in the drama-horror film Interview with the Vampire. No one could understand why Kirsten would want to kiss to most sought after man in Hollywood, however, when you find out that she was just 11 years old during filming, you could understand why she wouldn’t have wanted to kiss him.

Steve Carell and Dwayne Johnson (Get Smart)

Sometimes actors have to put themselves into situations they’d rather avoid in order to get that perfect shot. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Steve Carell had to face an uncomfortable situation when they filmed a kissing scene for the comedy film Get Smart. Johnson admitted to Elle magazine back in 2014 that kissing Carell felt like kissing kitty litter and that his lips felt like the bottom of a cat’s paw.

Kirk Cameron and Erin Bethea (Fireproof)

Kirk Cameron met his wife Chelsea Noble on the set of the sitcom Growing Pains back in the ‘80s. The couple married in 1991 just a few years after Kirk became an evangelical Christian. Because of his religious beliefs, Cameron refuses to kiss any other woman besides his wife. While this is incredibly sweet, it is hard for an actor to never kiss on camera. So when Cameron had to kiss his co-star Erin Bethea in the drama film Fireproof, they shot the scene in silhouette so there was no kissing required.

Candace Cameron and Scott Weinger(Full House)

Much like her brother Kirk Cameron, Candace is also a devout Christian and while she does kiss on screen, she won’t do nudity on screen or any raunchy scenes. When she played DJ Tanner on Full House she did have the odd smooch with her on-screen boyfriend Steve played by Scott Weinger and she has had a couple kisses in the new remake series Fuller House. Cameron said in an interview that she doesn’t, “Go beyond kissing someone.”

Juliette Danielle and Tommy Wiseau (The Room)

With the recent release of the James Franco film The Disaster Artist, a lot of attention has been placed on the original movie it was based on called The Room. The Room was created by the eccentric Tommy Wiseau who also starred in the film. Danielle and Wiseau reportedly filmed an intimate scene on the very first day of filming and Wiseau loved it so much that he wrote a second one into the film which Danielle was reportedly not very happy about.

Josh Hutcherson and Charlie Ray (Little Manhattan)

When Josh Hutcherson was just a little kid back in 2005 he appeared in the romantic-comedy film Little Manhattan. Hutcherson who was just 11 years old had to share his first kiss with his on-screen co-star Charlie Ray. He told Seventeen Magazine that there was a crew of, “50 people standing around watching me.” It was an uncomfortable and awkward moment for Josh and you can definitely tell by this picture.

Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal (When Harry Met Sally…)

When Harry Met Sally is an iconic romantic-comedy film that follows two characters who meet just before they drive across the country together. The film is a cult classic and boasts an iconic scene in Katz’s deli where director Rob Reiner’s actual famously says, “I’ll have what she’s having.” But was the chemistry between the two actors as real as it looked on screen? Although their characters were falling in love on-screen, it is rumored that Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal did not enjoy smooching each other in real life.

Julia Roberts and Richard Gere (Pretty Woman)

The film Pretty Woman is a romantic comedy starring a young Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. While the two actors were not disgusted by each others smooches apparently, one of the actors was extremely nervous about kissing the other. Roberts was apparently so nervous to film one romantic scene that a vein was visible popping out of her forehead. At a 25 year reunion of the cast back in 2015, the two actors kissed on the lips when greeting each other.

Penn Badgley and Blake Lively (Gossip Girl)

On the teen-drama show Gossip Girl, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively’s characters date on and off throughout the series and (spoiler alert!) ultimately end up getting married. While on the show, Penn and Blake were dating in real life but they broke up while they were still filming the show. Penn said that his worst on screen kiss was with, “Blake after we broke up.” Thankfully, both actors are now happily married to Ryan Reynolds and Domino Kirke respectively.

Woody Allen and Helena Bonham Carter (Mighty Aphrodite)

Woody Allen may be a well-known director, but it seems he also has his limits. Allen both directed and starred in his movie, Mighty Aphrodite, alongside eccentric British actress Helena Bonham Carter. The pair played an unhappy couple, so you wouldn’t expect passionate kissing from the both of them. Yet, the kisses seemed more robotic than anything, as Allen had various rules when it came to intimacy. The first was that “no exchange of liquid is permitted.” Well, that certainly sounds like the beginning of a passionate kissing scene!

Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman (Australia)

Kissing scenes are made even more awkward for celebrities who are married or in a relationship in real life. Although it may be their job to kiss another person, the actor probably can’t help but feel a little guilty – and things get a whole lot worse when you incorporate two married actors into the mix! While filming Australia, Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman just couldn’t get past the fact that they were kissing another married human being. Yet, they still got on with it. Good on them.
